INFORMATION ON DISTANCE EDUCATION CENTRE

 

                        The Distance Education Centre of Berhampur University, named after the late Raja Saheb Harihara  Mardaraj of the erstwhile estate of Khallikote in the district of Ganjam  came into existence in the year 1987 with the aim  to provide educational facilities , particularly to those who can not pursue regular courses due to financial or other constraints. The Distance Education Centre now offers 27 (Twenty seven) Undergraduate / Post Graduate & Professional Courses. The students are selected for admission into  MBA / MCA  course  through  entrance test conducted  by the Distance Education Centre  for the purpose .

The students of   MBA Course  are being supplied with study materials in shape of module / text book according to  prescribed syllabus . 

 

            The centre has made provisions for contact classes for students offering   Postgraduate and Professional Courses and for Under-graduate courses. There is also provision for Hostel accommodation for the outside students of DE Mode during the contact programme and examination.  A well equipped Computer Laboratory has been set up for practical programmes of   Computer Oriented courses .

 

            The Distance Education Centre is being administered by a Director, Additional Director on Part time basis and a full time Programme Coordinator (Academic )   and  other officers . One Core Resource Person of academic eminence is  appointed to provide necessary guidance to the students . The admission strength in all courses offered by the Distance Education Centre  has gone up to a considerable height . 

 

            An advisory committee headed by the Director acts as the policy making body of the Distance Education Centre .

 

The Centre is also taken the initiative to introduce new courses. These steps have contributed to strengthen the financial base of the centre as well as to cater the need of the  industries and different organizations
