About Course Programme

With the rapid progress in the area of Pharmaceutical sciences and its relevance to Biology, Physics and Chemistry, the establishment of a School of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, has become all the more important than before. This School of Pharmaceutical Education & Research undertaking teaching and research in the frontiers of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research is a dynamic centre for research which offers M.Pharmacy in i) Pharmaceutical Technology, ii) Pharmaceutical Analysis and Quality Assurance and iii) Pharmaceutics in the frontiers of Pharmaceutical Education. The emphasis at the curricular level is to give a broad coverage of branches of Pharmaceutical Sciences in keeping with the interdisciplinary nature of the subject today.

The M.Pharmacy is a P.G. Degree course and have many specialization, however students take specialization courses and a research project in a chosen area, which actually starts in the II semester. Students completing the M.Pharmacy degree course have freedom to take up research in a variety of specialized fields, ranges from the different aspects of Pharmaceutical Sciences.

The School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research has made notable impact on the Pharmaceutical research and is widely acclaimed at the National and International levels. The School receives support from a large number of Government funding agencies such as: UGC and CSIR, DST, etc. for research projects.

How to Enter into the Course Programme

Admission to the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research is open to all who fulfill the prescribed qualifications. The selection is made on the basis of merit at the entrance examination conducted by J.E.E, Odisha and at University level. No student shall be eligible for admission to the Post-Graduate Degree Courses unless she/he has successfully completed a four year B.Pharmacy Degree through an examination conducted by a University/ Autonomous College.

About Course Programme

The School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, offers PhD to unique, highly motivated individuals who qualify in URET. The programme consists of six months course work, followed by an original research project leading to a final thesis or dissertation. Students may select to specialize in different spheres of pharmaceutical sciences, as their area of study.

How to Enter into the Course Programme

For purposes of admission to the Ph.D. programme a candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree in the pharmacy discipline. Other eligibility criteria, application form and prospectus will be notified from time to time in the university website.

Prof.Subasini Pattnaik, M.Sc., M.Phil, Ph.D is presently a Professor of Zoology at the Berhampur University. She started her professional career as a Senior research Fellowship in DST, 1984 – 1987 and later went on to be a Senior Research Assistant in Central Silk Board at CSR & IT, West Bengal, 1987-1991. Her duties as a teacher began with the Lectureship. She joined as a Lecturer, P.G. Dept. of Zoology, Berhampur University from 1991-2001, then appointed as a reader from 2001-2009 and now continuing as professor from 2009 onwards.In the last several years at BU, she has held several administrative positions including; Head of the Department, Zoology; Co-ordinator BIF Center, Co-ordinator Bio-technology self-financing course; Appointed as N.S.S Programme officer; Superintendent of a hostel; Associate Vice-President athletic club. She has also been a member of several boards and committees of BU, including the Board of Governors, Rusa;NAAC, Academic Audit; Scrutiny Committee of BUSU and other sister association; Electoral Body Member to the BUSU and sister association. She has supervised and assisted the management for organizing North-East Zone inter University Kabaddi (Women) tournament and 41st Inter college athletic meet of Berhampur University. She has produced 7 Ph.D. and 20 M.Phil students. Her research has been published as 23 articles in edited volumes and 20 workshop/conference proceeedings at National and International level. Also she has attented several orientation and refresher courses. Her research interests include Mosquito Cytogenetics and Sericulture.

Dr.Suraj Sahoo holds his post Graduate and Ph.D. degress in Pharmacy from Biju Patnaik University of Technology and Utkal University, Odisha, in the years 2006 and 2014 respectively. He has been teaching in the School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Berhampur University since 2011. He has published 10 papers in various international and national journals. He has bagged a combination of more than 09 years of research and teaching experience in pharmaceutical industry like Dr.Reddy’s laboratories, Hyderabad and now as lecturer in academics. In addition he has been assigned with other administrative responsibilities during this period like AICTE affiliation process, student’s admission and counseling, as member of Board of examiners etc.

Ms. Smitapadma Mohanty joined Berhampur University in the year 2011. She obtained her M. Pharmacy degree from Utkal University in 2008. She completed her M. Pharma project work in Comed Chemicals Ltd (Phama Division) vadodara. She is having seven years of teaching experience. Presently she is perusing Ph.D. in this university. Her research interest is sustained release drug delivery system. She has attended many state and national level seminars and presented papers. She has published ten articles in various National and International journals. She is a life member of Association of Pharmaceutical Teachers of India.
